Discussion:
ICA C$ Local Drive Browsing VERY Slow

Hi, Wonder if anyone can help.

I'm using a Citrix ICA client against a WTS Server Session running a
Published Application (IE6 Web Browser App) and performance is very
good.
However, in the Web Application I'm running on the WTS Server I need to
Attach a file from local C drive which is mapped as V: and labelled
"C$".
Browsing this drive is increadibly slow ... it can take 5 minutes or
more to display the contents of a folder of a about 100 files. A
folder with less files takes less to display but still very slow.

Once the file is selected in the web app, the subsequent file upload is
performed by the Application from local C$ (V:) is not slow at all.
Does anyone have any advice please? It is a serious problem for us.

As you can guess I'm not a citrix / wts expert ... I work on the
Applications Side but would appreciate understanding if this is an MS
bug - will it be fixed, a config issue, any workarounds?
Thanks for your help!
Phil

Is the slowness problem happening over ICA or RDP, i.e. Citrix or Microsoft
client? The Microsoft RDP client is slower than the ICA Client for browsing
client redirected drives, but should not take 5 minutes.

I just logged onto a remote (over the Internet) Windows Server 2003 Terminal
Server with drive redirection enabled using my Windows XP SP2 Remote Desktop
Client and was able to browse my local C drive w/o any painfully slow
performance. It was actually not much different than the performance using
the Citrix ICA client.
