Since we have implemented load balancing between a Win2K and Win2K3 term
server, we have had many problems with user settings - I am thinkling due to
the fact that we are now using term server roaming profile configurations.

One particular user has to change her Outlook configuration everytime she
goes into Outlook, because it will not save her settings when she exists.
However, if she add's something new to her desktop, that is saved! That
tells me there is no problem with her permissions to write to her roaming
profile location on the server where they are kept.

Another thing is the Quick launch bar is continuously screwed up. Usually
there are two quick launch tool bars displayed!! If you right click and
select ToolBars, Quick Launch is in the list twice - checked for each
instance. If you uncheck one of them and log off, next time you log on, it
is back again. There are all kinds of little funnies like this that drive me
crazy because it is these things that users are ALWAYS complaining about!!!
ANd they always think that you can magically fix absoultely every friggin
problem that MS has ever had!

Has anyone had any of these issues and if so, did you find a way to resolve
the issuses?

Thanks,

Brad

There are incompatibilities between W2K and W2K3 profiles. So define
different profile paths for the two OS versions. This will not solve the
problem of inconsistent application settings with respect to the two OS
platforms. But for the terminal servers with the same OS version, the
results will be better. It's even better if you set up a configuration where
one part of your users only logs in to the W2K servers, while the other part
only logs in to W2K3. Why don't you upgrade your W2K servers to W2K3?

Even if it is techically possible to configure load-balancing for a mixed
W2K/W2K3 TS environment, it doesn't mean that it is a good idea...
