I am running Windows 2000 Server with Terminal Services enabled. Currently we
have 8 uses who connect to us & are expecting more. The users have commented
about latency issues, which I have not been able to pinpoint. Sometimes they
will type an email & finish the word before the first letter appears on the
screen, I have disabled word as the editor. They use IM, Internet, Office
2000 & a database software we have. It is not only when creating emails, but
general lookups. Somedays all runs well, other days everything runs slow.
Internally all runs well, this just happens with the TS users. Which
performance test is recommened to try & pinpoint the bottleneck?
Thank you,

If TS Sessions running on the local network are fine, then the problem is
with the Internet connection. Highly latent internet connections like
satellite are not well suited for RDP or ICA connections. High bandwidth is
not required, but low latency is a must. A plain old dial-up connection that
acheives 33.6Kbps is usually sufficient for 1024x768 display.

If sessions on the local network are also slow, then you need to monitor the
server like any other server, i.e. CPU, RAM, Pagefile, Disktime, Network
Connections...

Disable backgroud spellcheck in Office, as this is known to tax the CPUs in
a TS.
