Hi all ,

Gettting the following error "printer could not be installed". Driver is
known and installed on the windows 2000 terminal server. Have a locally
installed printer "HP LaserJet 2100 Series PCL 5e". This printer must be
captured by the terminal server. When I logon, I find the error in the
subject in the event log. I have checked and tried Q239088 with no success.
I'm getting the error also when I install a generic/text printerdriver
locally.

Thanks in Advance.

KB 239088 really is the way to solve this. Why didn't that work for
you? Have you double checked for (small) differences in printer
driver names? If you get EventID 1111 as well, then that's where
your problem lies.
Note that you should *not* install 3th party drivers on a TS, since
most of them are not TS compatible and known to make your TS
unstable (crash the spooler or the whole server). I would map this
printer to a "HP LaserJet Series II", if there is no native driver
on the server.

Hi,

Printer driver names are a match.
Not getting it in combination with 1111.
After a view years of sever based computing experience, i know exactly what
and what not to install on a terminal server. These HP drivers have never
failed on me, so I'm pretty stuck here.
I mean, even with text/only generic printer driver, this error occurs.

Additional:
If I remap the 2100 to laserjet II using q239088. I still get 1106.
