Hi Everyone,
I'm a newbie to Terminal Services and Citrix. Just wanted a few
general questions answered.
1) Do either Terminal Services 2003 or Citrix work over SSL.
2) What kind of performance should I expect if 4 people connect using
a single consumer grade dsl line (ie SBC yahoo). (I have a T1 on the
server end)
3) What kind of hardware configuration should I have if I want to
support 100 users using Office XP?
4) If I have a T1 on the server end, how many concurrent sessions can
I realistically support.
5) Do either Terminal Services 2003 or Citrix support voice to the
client machine? If so, has anyone tried this? How is the voice quality
over the Internet using consumer grade dsl on the client side.
6) Do either Terminal Services 2003 or Citrix support printing at the
client machine? If so, has anyone tried printing out a Crystal Report
to the client machine?
I have many more questions but these are the most important I can
think of right now.

Thanks in Advance,
Clem

1) Do either Terminal Services 2003 or Citrix work over SSL.
If you mean over port 443, yes. If you mean by using pure SSL, only Citrix
can do it as of today.

2) What kind of performance should I expect if 4 people connect using

Should work fine.

3) What kind of hardware configuration should I have if I want to
support 100 users using Office XP?
At least a dual CPU machine (fastest CPUs available) with 4GB RAM and fast
hard drives.
Depending how many apps they use at the same time and how they use them this
MAY NOT be enough.

4) If I have a T1 on the server end, how many concurrent sessions can
I realistically support.
I would say realistically, no more than 50, considering they will print and
the link will probably be used for other things (http, smtp, pop, etc).

If you mean supporting sound playback, both support. Quality is ok but may
suffer if the connection is not stable, fast and so on.

You need Citrix for this.

Audio redirection with native Windows Terminal Services is from the
server to the client only, not in the other direction.
