Hi Everyone,

I am having sluggish performacne with users luanching their Terminal Server
Session from the RDP application. What would normally take 30 seconds is now
takng close to two minutes. I first noticed the following behavior when
Installed the following patches.: B870763,B8855836,B867460 and B885835.

I uninstalled these patches and then fixed the problem where the DTC serivce
wouldn't after I installed the patches and I am still having sluggish
perfroamance. Once the termianl session is up, the user is not having any
issues using the Apps.

The Server in Question is runnning Windows 2003 Server Standard Editon.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Brad

Exactly *when* is it sluggish?
Before the login screen appears? During authentication? Or while
the user profile is loaded?
Is there anything in the EventLog on the TS?

Hi Vera

Thank yo very much for responding to me. Where I notice the sluggishness, is
from the time the "RDP Client" is launched from the workstation until they
get the actual desktop after logging in. The enitre process from start to
finish used to take 30 seconds. Now it takes two minutes. The bulk of the lag
time appears to be after the user puts in their login id and password until
the actual terminal service desktop is displayed. I have not seen any
warning or error messages on the system and application logs on the server. I
will be at the site tomorrow to review the logs on the workstations.

Thanks Again for your help!!!!

If the main delay occurs after entering the password, then it is
probably something with the user profile or the Group Policies
that takes more time than usual.
If there's nothing in the EventLog, you could turn on UserEnv
debugging:
