Discussion:
USB scanners and Muli Monitor support, any options?

Hello, I've googled for a while now and it looks to me like there there's
limited (if any) built-in support for USB port redirection with a Win2K3
Terminal Server solution.

If someone could chime in, what I'm seeing is that USB support may be
successfully implemented with third party Thin-Client hardware devices
and/or client software.

I'm also interested in support for dual monitor configurations at the
client, anyone know if this is supported? If so, under what configuration of
client/server?

(and don't get on me for cross-posting! most any newsreader will mark the
message as read when it's downloaded the first time and not bother to
download it again!)

Thanks.

You're right, there is currently no support for USB port
redirection.
Have a look at the following Citrix KB article, it gives a very
clear explanation about the difference between Device Level
redirection and Port Level redirection, which explains why USB
printers are supported, but USB scanners are not.

Native Windows Terminal Services does not support dual monitors,
Citrix does.

I use Remote-Scan with my USB Document Scanners and it works well.

Interesting, but embarrassingly badly proof-read:
"Now that MetaFrame peripheral support has been explained, it can been realized
that although “generic USB port-level redirection” is not supported by MetaFrame
today"
