hi Folks
We have users in house using remote desktop to run a database to a terminal
server, which are working fine, we have one user outwith the office when he
connects he gets a "license protocol error", in the event log there is a
"The terminal server cannot issue a client lisence" error.i`ve trawled the
internet looking for a solution.
I have removed the MSLisencing key in the users registry, still no joy,why is
it 15 users inhouse can connect no problem but an external user gets these
errors.
hope someone can help.

I assume that you have a free TS CAL available on the Licensing
Server for this client?

There might be a black hole router between your client and the TS,
which blocks packets above a certain size. This can prevent the
transfer of the permanent TS CAL to the client.

If this is the problem, you have to change the MTU size. Check the
Terminal Services FAQ, there are 2 items about this under
"Connectivity"

al/terminal_faq.asp

On your TS Licensing Server:
Start - Programs - Administrative tools - Terminal Server Licensing

Do you have a Terminal Server licensing Server installed? Where (with 2000 i
think its needed on an DC)? Is it activated and do you have TSCALs
installed? Are there Free TSCALs?
What OS do your inhouse clients have and what the remote Client? Windows
2000 and XP can connect without a TSCAL.
