I have customers who log in to Terminal Server and can see their local
printers and also the printers directly installed on the TS. The problem they
have is that they can't select a default printer and have it retained between
TS sessions.

Is there some way to select a default TS printer once, and use it every time
you log in to TS?

Check if this helps:

243942 - Terminal Services printer redirection not signaled on change
to server-side Device Settings tab in Windows 2000 or Windows Server
2003
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=243942

and if it doesn't, use this utility:

DABCC's Set Default Printer Tool

intPKText=1270&intPKChannel=13
