W2K3 TSLS - DNS alias
(too old to reply)

I have created a DNS alias for my W2K3 TS License server and have set the
DefaultLicenseServer on my Terminal servers to this DNS alias.

When I run a check on the License Server Discovery Method, it cannot find my
License server. It appears I cannot use a DNS alias or does anyone know why?
When I insert the server name, it works!

Any help appreciated.

I have had a similar problem before, It ended up being
something really silly.
All I did was to add my TS License Server to
the "Terminal Server License Server" built in Security
Group in AD.
Cheers

Erich,
Thanks for the response.

Unfortunately, there is no built-in "Terminal Server License Server" group
in Active Directory.

On my W2K3 TS servers, I have set the registry key under "LicenseServers" to
the DNS alias of my License server, overriding the license discovery process.

I have a W2K3 TS SP1 RC2 server where I can check the discovery process and
it fails when I give in the DNS alias. This is my problem!
