I am trying to login to W2K server at City-A over Remote Desktop Connection
(XP Wrkstn) from City-B. It is not getting through. The server is connected
over T1 and located in City-A and passing through a firewalls at both ends.
The server address is NATed. The Wrkstn in City-B can ping to server and
access few other applications without any problems. But unable to establish
RDC.
I have tried from a wrkstn in City-A and the RDC goes through perfectly with
same credentials. That means the RDC traffic from City-B is unable to reach
the server at City-A. Any clues how to resolve this?
( In fact, I have opened "Allow any service" on both the firwalls thus it
can ping, ftp http etc applications are having no issues).

can you connect to another system through RDP in city a?
does "allow any service" include everything? (big security hole) or standard
stuff like ports 80,443,21,25,110,icmp?
make sure port 3389 is open

Well, I was going through some other posts and seen Vera Noest (MVP)
suggestion on troubleshooting RDP (KBID=186645). Then I opened the port 3389
alone for telnet services on the firewall and it is working fine now. Seth,
"Allow any service" was used for testing purpose.
Thanks to all.
