Hi,

I have a win2k server SP4 where I use remote desktop for support issues.

Suddenly I get a message that too many connections are up and when I try to
start the TS-manager it looks like it starts but only shows in the system
tray and cant be maximized. Only way to shut it down is by ctr+alt+del.

The service itself cannot be stopped or restarted - all the options is
greyed out.

Uninstalled and reinstalled Terminal Services but no change at all.

Thankfull for any help.

Most likely, there are 2 disconnected sessions still present, which
stop you from connecting to the server. Configure a time-out limit
on disconnected sessions to avoid this problem in the future.

That you can't stop or restart the Terminal services service is by
design:
278657 - Terminal Services Cannot Be Manipulated
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=278657

For the TS Manager issue:

From http://ts.veranoest.net/ts_faq.htm

Q. Terminal Services Administration tool starts minimized and can't
be maximized

A. The problem is that at some point the TSAdmin window position
settings were saved in a high-resolution session; with it running
in a low-resolution session, those values position it off the
viewable screen.
To solve the problem, start regedit and navigate to this registry
key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion
\Terminal Server\TSADMIN

Delete the "Placement" value and exit regedit.
Now start Terminal Services Administration and you should be able
to find it.

For a related issue, check:
277689 - You May Not Be Able to Switch Back and Use the Terminal
Services Manager
