Hi All,

Have a very wired problem.

I have a number of Windows 2000 Advanced Servers all with terminal services
(Remote Admin) installed and all sitting on a domain with Active Directory.

Now, if I am on he loacal network I can remote desktop to any of the servers
but if I am at a remote location and establish a VPN connection to the
network and then try to establish a Remote Desktop Connection, it connects
and I get the login screen but when entering the administrator username and
password I can not login.

I am ensuring that the username and domain are correct but no Joy,

Any ideas anyone or am I missing something really obvious.

Regards,

Ozzie

What error does it give you, and is there anything in the Event Log on that
server for this condition? Sounds like it could be a policy problem.

Hi Rob,

There is no error other than the dialog box that appears. There are no
entries in the event log either.

What does the dialog box say, exactly?

The dialog that pops up says the following:

The system could not log you on. Make sure your username and domain are
correct the type your password again.

Letters in passwords must e typed using the correct case, make sure that
caps lock is not accidentally turned on.

I have checked the event viewer and it displays a failed login attempt of
unknown username or password.

As I have said, if I phyisically stand at the server I can create remote
desktops to any of the servers without any problems at all, but if i try to
connect remotely i get the above.

Ozzie
